COPPA[]
COPPA, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, has been updated. More information can be found here.
While this does not affect any registered users or previous updates, our Wiki has been classified as high-risk of being directed to children. Again, while this does not affect either edits or users, anonymous users can NO LONGER edit or comment on this Wiki. No contributions made by anons previously will be reverted. This has been implemented in order to prevent the obtaining of a child's IP Address, as per the new COPPA regulations. I also can NOT lift this restriction, as it is not within my power.
How does this affect the users?[]
There are certain anons that have frequented the Wiki, and become almost like part of the community. Some have also made many helpful edits. However, these users will no longer be allowed without an account. This will affect any relations to anonymous users that any user has.
There may also be more frequent new users. I know that the admins have been doing a great job, but make sure to be extra careful when considering the contributions of new users. I know it's often easier to skip over a user as a potential spammer, and to suspect IP's more often. Without any anon contributions allowed, however, spammers are forced to create accounts. So please, keep up what you're doing, and just make sure to check the new user contributions carefully.
Removing the block[]
Should the community decide that this Wiki is NOT directed to children, then I shall create another blog post where all the users discuss why it is or is not directed to children. Should we have enough reason, Community Central may remove the block of Anon contributors. The block will ONLY be removed if this Wiki is proven not to be directed towards children.
