Legendary, represented by the icon, is an elemental type featured in Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters: Champions. Like Neutral-type vivosaurs, Legendary-type vivosaurs have no elemental advantages or disadvantages against other types. They are generally incompatible with most other vivosaurs. Most are only able to use team skills within their own group (i.e. zombiesaurs) or with other vivosaurs that have Vivosaur Compatibility, and some have no team skills at all (i.e. Frigi and Igno).
Legendary is the smallest elemental group, with only five members in Fossil Fighters and seven in Fossil Fighters: Champions. Legendary-type vivosaurs are generally of extraordinary origin, and they are unique in that none of them are permanently obtainable through revival; they can only be obtained through Bonus Data or completing sidequests.

Trivia[]
- Five Legendary-type vivosaurs were introduced in each of the DS games. Igno, Frigi, and the three brains of Guhnash were introduced in Fossil Fighters, and the five zombiesaurs were introduced in Fossil Fighters: Champions.
- The Hero revives an Igno during the main story of Fossil Fighters, making it the only Legendary-type vivosaur that can be revived. This Igno can only be kept temporarily, however; as with other Legendary-type vivosaurs, the Hero must complete a postgame sidequest to obtain it permanently.
- On the official Fossil Fighters: Champions site, the Legendary type is referred to as "Mystery" type.
- The Legendary type was not included in Fossil Fighters: Frontier, despite the presence of vivosaurs that presumably would have been Legendary (such as Dreadraven and Dreadsaurus). These vivosaurs are Neutral-type instead, further highlighting the similarities between the two elements.
